Wow! How quickly the web evolves.
Just a few years ago we were building a new version of our website from scratch using a completely new codebase. Since then, we’ve done hundreds of releases to stay current with web technology and user expectations, and I’m sure we will do hundreds more.
As the expectations of web users in the B2B space continue to evolve rapidly, 2019 will be no different, and will pick up even more steam.
But before we look too far ahead to what’s in store for Samtec.com in 2019, let’s take a look back at what the Samtec web team built and delivered for its loyal users in 2018.
January

In January 2018, we worked through several major releases, including our Competitor Cross Reference Search, the beta version of our new checkout process (which is now completely live) as well as new hero-style family pages for NovaRay™, AcceleRate® HD, XCede® HD, and Flyover QSFP.
We also updated our Characterization and Development Kits page, which is now blossoming with dozens of new kits for rapid development.

February

In February 2018, we continued the updates with our new checkout process, added a new VITA 74 VNX experience, added Specs Kit access to our Series Pages, and pushed out an update to Angular 5.

In March 2018, we made several key efficiency and experience upgrades to our on-site Search on Samtec.com, released a new experience for High Speed Cable Solutions, and released new experiences for VITA 57.1 FMC and VITA 57.4 FMC+,

In April 2018, we continued the efficiency and experience upgrades to our on-site search, updated our homepage with new content, and added additional support for FMC and FMC+

In May of 2018, we continued to tweak our search results to bring you the most relevant products, this time making updates for searches with decimal places. We also rolled out a completely new Standards Page experience, which came a long way in 2018.
We also rolled out a feature to display the user’s local FSE (sales rep) in the footer of the website based on the location of the browser.
Additionally, we added a Precision RF category to our navigation and added Protocol data to our product pages.

In June of 2018, we spent the majority of the month releasing and optimizing several performance upgrades to My Samtec through the use of a variety of new APIs. We also make some tweaks to our product pages to allow Processing information to be displayed in its own support block.

In July of 2018, we released a new experience in our Silicon-to-Silicon section of the website, rolling out half a dozen new pages to better support our products and capabilities in this area.
We also finalized the release of our streamlined checkout process, which drastically simplified the checkout experience on the e-commerce portion of Samtec.com.
Additionally, we rolled out new pages for IEEE, PISMO, a FireFlyTM 28G kit, and Flexible Stacking products.

In August 2018, we released an update to show pricing and distributor stock on product pages, updated our homepage to feature our new Silicon-to-Silicon content, updated our Samtec Teraspeed Consulting experience, and continued with our Industry Standards updates.

In September of 2018, we rolled out a few user experience updates to the checkout process to help with address matching. We also rolled out an entirely new experience for our PC/104 content.
Additionally, we rolled out a Non-magnetic RF experience and released our new Samtec Cares program to assist non-profits in the communities we serve.

In October of 2018, we released the first phase of a project to translate Samtec.com into four additional languages – German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Hindi.
We also released pages for Altera, Nexus 5001, Power.org, and added several new development kits.
Lastly, we added a new section for Technical Resources to our main navigation, and rolled out several mobile experience updates.

In November 2018, we wrapped up our mobile updates for now, released an updated version of our FAQs page, added easy access to development boards to our product pages, and released a new simplified sample tool.
