How Samtec.com Uses Static Site Technology for Blazing Fast Speed

Over the last couple of years, Samtec.com has been transitioning from using database-driven content delivery to delivering a large portion of static content using a content-delivery-network.

While these newly-built pages are still populated using a content-management system, we layer a static site builder on top of them and bundle a lot of the script and CSS calls together to maximize their performance and speed.

These pages are also loaded directly from server memory which doesn’t require access to a database or heavy file storage systems. It is the quickest form of file access available with today’s web technology. This eliminates many previous bottlenecks compared to the traditional way of rendering webpages and loads pages 3-4x faster (sometimes even more). As the web evolves, you’ll see more and more websites using the same method.

When we began using this technology a couple of years ago as a pilot project, we only had a few pages built on it. Today, after the launch of our new product hierarchy we have nearly 500 (and growing), which is a large portion of the content and marketing pages of the website.

Here you can see a few examples. Pay attention to how quickly the page loads vs some of the more database-heavy pages on the site (we’re still working on these).
