Introducing the Brand New Product Navigation for Samtec.com

If you read the most recent web update blog post, you’ve already been introduced to this new section of the website briefly. In this post, we’ll take a little bit of a deeper dive into the new product navigation on Samtec.com.

Brand New Main Products Navigation

The main navigation and page hierarchy that we ran for nearly a decade on Samtec.com has been permanently replaced by our new Solution Blocks hierarchy.

Previously, you saw our product navigation separated into four buckets, which were “Connectors, Cables, Optics, and RF” links at the top. These links have been replaced by a single “Products” link, which breaks down Samtec products into our six Solution Blocks.

The update simplifies what was becoming far too much under “Connectors” and breaks everything down into easier-to-understand product categories that aim to fulfill a specific need based on the application, hence the name “Solution Block.” Each of the six blocks is a collection of differentiated products that are designed to solve the design challenges often faced within these areas.

For example, generally all of the products under High-Speed Board-to-Board products are going to be products capable of carrying very high data rates while also fitting into the space needed for unique designs.

The Rugged / Power Solution block offers products that are designed to operate in harsh environment conditions and/or run power, such as military and industrial applications, or similar applications.

The Flexible Stacking block offers board-stacking type products that need to fit a specific stack height and pitch, and fit into a given area while also maintaining sometimes specific mating characteristics.

And so on across the other remaining solution blocks for RF, Optics, and High0Speed Cable. Users can much more easily navigate this approach to find what they’re looking for. Once users are in a Solution Block, the next choice becomes the “Product Group” to select within that block, then down to the family and series. We’ll go more into depth into these areas of the website in future blog posts.
