In April 2018, we rolled out a refresh to our homepage to better feature our web tools, as well as our high speed cable products. Additionally, we made a few more tweaks to our Search tool, and rolled out some additional content updates to our VITA web experience.
Here are the major updates to Samtec.com for April of 2018.
User Experience Updates to Search
We continued making user experience tweaks to our on-site Search this month. Here are a few of the highlights.
Increased priority for series with options
Samtec has several products that use a [Series]+[Option] scheme to identify the product. Examples are products such as SEAF-RA, QSE-DP, and HSEC8-EM. We’ve added quite a few of these lately, and needed to better prioritize the +[Option] results in the instant search dropdown. We were running into situations where full part numbers were appearing before the [Series]+[Option] matches.
This update should alleviate that situation, and as a byproduct, slightly improve the speed at which results are returned.
Example:

Other Search Updates
We also added more support for series that begin with numbers, additional support for industry standard focused part numbers, and better handling of full part number searches that do not yet have a technical specifications page set up.
Homepage Refresh
As you may have already noticed, we took some time this month to refresh the homepage of Samtec.com. You can see a comparison of the old homepage (top), vs the new homepage (bottom) below.
The new update puts more attention on our high speed cable products, and continues our emphasis to give you access to our web tools such as Picture Search and Solutionator. Also featured is our continued Silicon-to-Silicon focus to optimize your applications from one end of the signal to the other, and back again.

Additional Support for FMC and FMC+
Samtec continues its added support for the VITA FMC and FMC+ industry standards. This month we’ve added more product support for high pin count and low pin count SEARAY options. You can find those on our VITA FMC page.

In addition, we’ve updated our VITA FMC+ page with a new section detailing how we are supporting the expanding FMC+ ecosystem. This includes products such as the Abaco VP889 FPGA Board, the Pentek Model 5983 JadeFX Kintex UltraScale Processor and FMC Carrier, the ReflexCES Stratix 10 FPGA FMC+ Instant-Development Kit, and the Samtec VITA 57.4 FMC+ HSPC/HSPCe Loopback Card.
