In March 2018, we turned our attention back to our on-site search tool, to complete Phase 3 of our user experience upgrades. We also rolled out a very cool experience for our high speed cable customers, to tell the story of the high speed cable offering at Samtec.
Here are the major web updates to Samtec.com in February 2018.
Search Upgrades
In late March, we released a variety of “Phase 3” updates to our on-site Search tool to continue to address the feedback we’ve been getting from our knowledgeable and loyal userbase.
The goal of this update is the allow us to stay focused on allowing users to search for Samtec products (about 80% of our searches), while at the same time, allowing users to easily find the wealth of additional technical content featured on Samtec.com.
Here is where we focused our attention in this update:
- Starting the user on the Products tab by default, allowing a focus on product without sacrificing relevancy elsewhere
- Adjusting our sorting algorithm on the All tab to be more in-line with the content of each page
- Adding images to each tab to further assist the user in their search
- Addition of intelligence based on user input that will start users on a specific tab based on their query

High Speed Cable Solutions Experience
Earlier this year we released our High Speed Cable Interconnect Solutions Guide. To go along with that, we wanted to bring some of that experience into the website. We’ve just released our first version of our High Speed Cable Solutions Experience.
This page will take you through not only the “what” of our high speed cables, but also the “why” and the “how” behind this robust product line, all in a stunning online experience.
Towards the end, you can jump off into everything high speed cable on Samtec.com
We’ll be adding more to this experience over the next few months as projects progress in this area.

Standalone Pages for VITA 57.1 and VITA 57.4
Previously we had developed a single page for VITA 57 standards, however that got to be a bit too much to display on one page.
We’ve split this up into two webpages, FMC, and FMC+, and will continue to add to each as we build out our support for these standards.

Along the same lines, we’ll also be working on an upgrade to our main Standards page in the next several weeks, bringing a far better experience and level of organization to Standards on Samtec.com.
