February 2018 was another solid month for Samtec.com. Our significant updates include continued improvements to our online ordering process, a couple of new content pages for you, and easier access to technical documentation on our Tech Specs pages.
Additionally, we’ve upgraded many of our web apps to use Angular 5, the latest version of the Angular web development framework from Google.
Here are the major web updates to Samtec.com in February 2018.
Continued Improvements to Online Ordering

We’ve been beta testing our new one-step ordering process with a small subset of experienced users over the past couple of months. This new process combines 5 steps into a single screen, significantly increasing the user experience.
We’re at a point now where we’re ironing out the final updates and preparing for a cutover to the new process in March.
Hopefully with next month’s update, I’ll be able to tell you that we’ve swapped most users to this new process.
To check it out, head to My Samtec with something in your cart to purchase, and click the “Try Out Beta Checkout” button after you proceed to the checkout.

VITA 74 VNX Standard Experience

VITA 74 VNX introduces a new approach to rugged Small Form Factor (SFF) design. Its unique module-based format offers system architects greater freedom in developing COTS SFF systems. VNX’s machined chassis, robust backplane, and conduction-cooled modules unite to form an extremely rugged assembly.
Defining mechanical and electrical requirements, VNX embodies a small-scale VPX architecture, simplified to satisfy a new range of applications. The Standard encourages vendors to supply system components, including modules, backplanes, enclosures, and completed solutions.

Specs Kit on Series Pages

You can now visit any Series Tech Specs page and download a Specs Kit, containing several key technical documents for your product, in just a few seconds.
Look for the box labeled “Specs Kit” and simply enter your email address. In just a few seconds, we’ll send over an email with easy access to Catalog Pages, Prints, Footprints, and 3D models for your series.

Upgrade to Angular 5

We have been building applications using Google’s Angular framework for over a year now, with our first being Solutionator 2.0. As Angular continues to evolve, it gets lighter and faster, which helps to increase our pageload times and enables us to give you the latest and greatest features.
This month we completed an upgrade to Angular 5 to drive our Angular-based applications. With no signs of slowing down, we’ll likely be upgrading to Angular 6 and even Angular 7 before the year is over.
