January 2018 was a heck of a month for Samtec.com!
We had been developing several significant pieces of software and content in late 2017, and it seems like almost all of them were released in January. Here are the major updates to Samtec for January 2018.
New Streamlined Checkout in My Samtec
One of our large goals in 2017 was to simplify the checkout experience for our online users from five screens, down to one simple screen. What used to be a bit of a cumbersome process of five screens with several seconds inbetween, has now been simplified into one screen with in-line validations, and a single click to process the order at the end.
This new process is currently in a “beta” phase, but we plan on moving this to be our default process for a large number of users towards the end of February or early March.
You’ll see this new process accessible in My Samtec for OEM and Guest users for all product purchases.

Competitor Cross Reference Search
Since we launched the newest version of Samtec.com in 2016, one of our top requested features has been the addition of a cross reference search so web users can get crosses of competitor part numbers to Samtec part numbers.
In late January, we rolled out the first verison of this addition as an integrated piece of our on-site cloud-driven search.
To access it, just search for any valid competitor part number, and you’ll be returned a list of our closest matches to that part number. Coming soon to supplement this tool will be the ability to modify part numbers directly on their full part webpages.

Accelerate HD Family Page
AcceleRate® HD features high-speed Edge Rate® contacts designed for high-speed, high-cycle applications.
The surface of the contact is milled creating a smooth mating surface, which reduces wear on the contact increasing durability and cycle life. Also, lower insertion and withdrawal forces allow zippered unmating.

xCedeHD Family Page
XCede® HD combines a small form factor with incredible design flexibility for significant board and system space savings. The system’s modularity gives designers the opportunity to create a fully custom backplane solution with optional power modules, guidance & keying, and side walls for increased durability.
Featuring a staggered differential pin design, the ground pins mate first for hot-plugging to help prevent system downtime.

Flyover QSFP Family Page
Samtec’s Flyover QSFP Systems provide improved signal integrity and architectural flexibility by flying critical high-speed signals over lossy PCB materials and directly to the panel via ultra low skew twinax cable. The ultra-high-density design includes sideband signaling via press-fit contacts to help increase airflow, and a multitude of “End 2” options allow for maximum design flexibility.
