“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….”
Consider this the only Easter egg of this blog. However, don’t tech bloggers love Star Wars, MCU or DCEU references? Where’s Black Adam? Oops, that’s two Easter eggs. In any case, it just seems right to continue with the Easter eggs in this, the official 1000th Samtec blog.
Wow, 1,000 blogs. I don’t think we as a team ever expected to see that number. As I write this, I am celebrating seven wonderful years at Samtec. I joined the blog team in 2015. By then, Danny Boesing, Cody Wheeler, and others had the blog rolling.
From small beginnings, we now have around a dozen writers contributing 3-4 blogs a week. Topics range from connector design, testing, new products, connector and PCB processing, high-speed demonstrations, webinars, trends in the electronics industry, history, quality management, standards, website updates, and a few comments on current events partnerships, some cool projects Samtec gets involved with, and occasional practical jokes.
Our continued success is all due to you, our dear Samtec blog readers. Thanks so much!
Samtec’s Favorite Blogs
Everybody has a top 10 list. Danny Boesing has written so many blogs that we continually joke that he always has the “Top 10” regardless of the topic. For our 1000th blog, we tried to be diplomatic. So, here are ten of our personal favorites from over the past eight years.
The Legacy of Sam Shine
Sam Shine was Samtec’s legendary founder. He lived by the seven principles of “Sudden Service.” He was also a renowned and dedicated conservationist. Check out Danny Boesing’s blog on how Sam continued to influence the next generation at Samtec today.
Samtec Abandons Connector Industry to Focus on Selling Stuffed Tigers

Everyone knows the story of Samtec’s unofficial mascot, Tessie the Tiger. Samtec hands out stuffed tigers at trade shows, customer visits, and to visitors at our locations around the world. Children, grandchildren, kids at heart, and even many pets all have their own personal Tessie. Tessie has become so popular, we thought we could change our business model . . . at least for one day.
Samtec Discrete Wire Powers Indoor Vertical Farms

Samtec high-performance and rugged interconnect solutions are found in almost any industry and application. Sometimes we are even surprised at our customer’s ingenuity. This blog details how one customer uses our solutions to grow leafy vegetables year-round in the Rocky Mountains.
Restoring The AGC for The 50th Anniversary Of Apollo 11

This was one of my personal favorites. The 50th anniversary of the Apollo mission to the moon was a huge event for many in the field of technology. Samtec’s own Marc Verdiell and his band of computer restorers brought an Apollo 11 AGC back to life. Danny Boesing does a great job taking us through the restoration process. Notice how Samtec was able to help the project along.
A British View of Thanksgiving

The Samtec blog has definitely gone international. Our favorite Brit David Pike gives a tongue-in-cheek view of the American Thanksgiving holiday from “across the pond.” Who says Brits aren’t funny?
James Bond Demos 56 Gbps System With 5.8 Tbps Throughput

I guess we can’t stop with the Easter eggs quite yet. Who doesn’t like James Bond? Our other favorite Brit Ralph Page designs and builds Samtec active demos used in tradeshows, customer visits, and the like. The 56 Gbps PAM4 Product Demonstrator (we really need to come up with a better name!) has been one of our most popular platforms demonstrating our system-level capabilities.
Samtec Aquarium: It’s Cool, And We Couldn’t Get A Live Tiger

A few years ago, Samtec renovated and expanded our corporate headquarters in New Albany, IN. The new lobby was reimagined into a spacious, welcome center that reflects the innovative, leading-edge technology company that Samtec has become. The centerpiece of the lobby is the Samtec aquarium. It grabs your attention, but without a live tiger. It does have a tiger shark though!
The Industry’s Slimmest Cable Assembly: Do You Believe?

As we mentioned, the Samtec blog is chock-full of new product releases. Brianne Collier always delivers the goods in her blog articles. She puts a cool bent on our new product releases. Do you believe? I always do when Brianne is doing her thing.
Video Games Taught Me Skills

Again with more technology Easter eggs! So many of us grew up on the latest video gaming platforms. At the time, our parents always said we played too much. How many of us are glad we didn’t listen. David Pike goes down memory lane illustrating how we all benefit from video games.
What Plating Option Is Best For My Connector?

Some of the most read Samtec blogs cover the basics of interconnect technology. They really do cover Connectors 101, if you will. Samtec connectors come with many different plating options. Why is that the case? This blog demystifies the topic.
The 1000th Blog – What’s Next?
That’s easy. The 1001st blog. There are so many blogs we could have posted here, but we hope you enjoyed these ten of our favorites.
So here is to the next 1000 blogs! Thank you, dear loyal Samtec blog readers, from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support. It is and will continue to be our pleasure writing for you.
