This month we fully launched our new checkout system, made some updates to our Picture Search, released a new industry standards page, and made some updates to how we use APIs across the website.
Here are the major website updates to Samtec.com for October 2022.
Full Checkout Launch
Our new checkout has made the transition to the primary system to buy products on Samtec.com. The old system will be fully decommissioned by the end of November. This new system brings an improved user experience, enhanced performance, and sets the stage for the eCommerce operations of Samtec.com for the next decade or more.
We’ll move this application into maintenance but will continue to bring more features to it throughout 2023 and beyond as it evolves.
Updated Layout on High-Speed Board-to-Board Picture Search
If you are a frequent user of our Picture Search tool, you may have noticed that we shifted the product imagery to the right 2/3 of the screen in the High-Speed Board-to-Board section.
This update was done to give users an easier path into our High-Speed Board-to-Board Solutionator, which allows you to configure a mated set of this area of products in under a minute.
Take a look at the new layout here, and try the High-Speed Board-to-Board Solutionator experience while you’re there.
New SNIA® Industry Standards Page
The SNIA® specification defines an unshielded, Input/Output, card edge connector, and mating card interface capable of operating up to 112 GT/s PAM4. The connector has 56, 84, or 140 contacts based on bandwidth needs and is configurable for straight, right-angle, edge mount, and orthogonal applications.

API Call Restructure
This update won’t really visually affect the website in any way, however, it may bring performance gains to various areas of the website.
We’re moving some areas of the website architecture away from an aging API management system to use direct calls to various APIs that we use to populate millions of data points across Samtec.com. These include pricing data, product feature data, technical documentation, and more.
This update will help to decentralize these API calls, remove a layer of unnecessary complexity, and overall improve the Samtec.com architecture.
