I want to believe.
Not only could Eugene Victor Tooms hibernate for 30-year stints, but he could squeeze and elongate his body to pass through narrow openings. In the supernatural thriller The X-Files, Tooms managed to fit through elevator shafts, air vents, chimneys, and almost a toilet before his demise by an escalator while being investigated by Mulder and Scully.
It would seem that only genetic mutants are capable of such incredible feats, but we just released the incredibly slim AcceleRate® Direct Attach Cable Assembly. As the industry’s slimmest cable assembly, Tooms has nothing on a 7.6 mm body width.
Direct Attach Technology
In addition to its slim 7.6 mm body, the AcceleRate® cable assembly (ARC6/ARF6) features a high-density 2-row design with 8 or 16 pair configurations on a narrow 0.635 mm pitch.

The contacts are directly soldered to the cable achieving tighter tolerances. Direct attach technology also improves signal integrity by eliminating the transition board and its variability.
Ultra Low Skew Twinax Cable

The AcceleRate® cable assembly supports Samtec’s Flyover® technology by routing data above lossy PCB through 34 AWG, 100 Ω Eye Speed® ultra low skew (<3.5 ps/meter) twinax cable.
This proprietary low loss twinax cable eliminates the performance limitations and inconsistencies of individually extruded dielectric twinax cabling. The results include improved signal integrity, bandwidth and reach, thus making system design more flexible.
Other incredible feats (or, features) include high-speed 28 Gbps NRZ/56 Gbps PAM4 performance, rugged metal latching and shielding, as well as a mating board level socket in vertical or right-angle orientations with standard weld tabs for increased stability on the PCB.

Samtec also offers an AcceleRate® Flyover® SI Evaluation Kit. This easy-to-use test platform provides system designers and SI engineers a solution for evaluating AcceleRate® cable assemblies. Click here for more kit details.
