Data, data, data is everywhere. From streaming video to edge computing, system designers are challenged to meet the needs of the networks (and consumers).
From servers and switches to networking equipment, OEMs developing next-gen devices with high performance communications face two common challenges. First, available silicon must support 56 Gbps PAM4 data rates. Second, test fixtures must support performance verification.
Developing high-performance communications solutions requires collaboration across the industry. Fortunately, Samtec, eSilicon and Wild River Technology have co-developed a next-gen test platform that pulls all of the pieces together.

Webinar: High-Performance Communications, Delivered
One emerging trend in high-performance communication is the use of PAM4 modulation. While this is easy for some, it is a new approach for many. PAM4 (pulse amplitude modulation) uses four distinct pulse amplitudes are used to convey the information.
The webinar will focus on high-performance communications at 56 Gbps PAM4 and beyond. Additional topics covered in the webinar include:
- An introduction to the challenges of high-performance communications from SemiWiki
- An overview of the test fixture design, presented by Wild River Technology
- A discussion of connectivity requirements for these systems presented by Samtec
- The process of bringing it all together — high-performance SerDes and test fixture, presented by eSilicon
Two webinars sessions will be held on July 11, 2019. The first session will be 8:00-9:00 AM PDT. The second session will be 6:00-7:00 PM PDT.
Additional details of the webinar and registration are available here.
Whitepaper: Meeting the demands of PAM4 systems at 56Gbps and beyond
The webinar will be a great introduction to the topic. Are other information sources available as well?
The short answer is yes. Each webinar attendee can download a new white paper entitled Meeting the demands of PAM4 systems at 56Gbps and beyond.
Co-authored by Samtec, eSilicon and Wild River Technology, it details the collaboration and results the partners achieved.
Technology, a winning methodology and the desire to collaborate all matter.
