Samtec is proud to sponsor the upcoming PCI-SIG DevCon 2024. Each year the event includes the latest PCIe demonstrations, presentations and networking oppotunites. Past attendees agree that PCI-SIG DevCons are not to be missed!
PCI-SIG DevCons are free events for the 900+ PCI-SIG member companies like Samtec that develop and bring to market new products utilizing PCI Express® technology. There are opportunities to learn directly from the industry’s PCIe® experts and participate in technical trainings to gain best practices to improve product roll-out and interoperability.

Technical Sessions
Samtec and our partners will be participating in a technical session at PCI-SIG DevCon. Our friend Martin Stumpf from Rohde & Schwarz will detail the challenge of PCIe 6.0/7.0 IC test board design and test fixture characterization. This details the partnership between Samtec and Rohde & Schwarz on the topic.
Preparing for PCIe Electrical Measurements Beyond 64GT/s
Martin Stumpf – Thursday, June 13 | 10:30 AM – 11:00 AM PT
With 128 GT/s, PCIe 7.0 will again double the data rate. Keeping PAM4, it will also double the physical bandwidth. To accurately test the performance at this link speed, the measurement path from the test equipment to the pin will need to be accurately characterized up to very high frequencies, so that it can be de-embedded from the measurement results.
The presenter will discuss related challenges for test board design and the recommendations of IEEE Std 370 for accurate test fixture characterization and de-embedding as well as practical implementation examples for similar measurement paths. We’ll also take a close look at best practices to accurately characterize the lead-in / lead-out at these frequencies. The significance of impedance corrected de-embedding is also included.
Product Demonstrations
Samtec and Synopsys will showcase PCIe 7.0 interoperabilty at PCI-SIG DevCon 2024. The demo will combine Synopsys PCIe 7.0 IP with Samtec’s NovaRay® I/O Panel Mount Cable System and NovaRay® Cable System. The demonstration will give designers access to early testing especially for next-gen AI/ML and data center applications.
Samtec will also demostrate the latest in PCIe-over-Optics solutions. PCIe may have started as the standard internal interface for connecting MCUs and I/O Controllers on a motherboard. Now, PCIe over fiber links hosts and endpoints up to 100 m away. This can occur in a lab, data center or on the factory floor. All of this with low latency and a small form factor.

The Samtec FireFly Micro Flyover System is the first interconnect system that gives a designer the flexibility of using micro footprint high-performance optical and low-cost copper interconnects interchangeably with the same connector system. A Samtec FireFly PCUO, a PCIe-over-fiber active optical cable assembly, is the focal interconnect on both add-in cards.

I require a number of SAMTEC SFSD-05-28-5.00-SR plugs for a Honeywell product that we have integrated into a unit. Where will I be able to get a box or say 100 of these headers and if discontinued, what can I uses as alternative to connect to the unit.
