For example, the Samtec FireFly™ Micro Flyover System™ is the first interconnect system that gives a designer the flexibility of using micro footprint high-performance optical and low-cost copper interconnects interchangeably with the same connector system.
Samtec FireFly copper and optical cable systems provide the flexibility to achieve higher data rates and/or greater distances, simplifying board design and enhancing performance. FireFly offers a future-proof system with up to 28 Gbps per lane in x4 and x12 configurations.
Another example of an easy-to-use embedded optical solution is the TECHWAY TigerFMC family. TigerFMC is a very compact and efficient solution offering high-speed optical communications in real-time data-intensive integrated systems.
Taking advantage of the Samtec’s FireFly Micro Flyover System optical modules, TigerFMC solutions offer an overall throughput up to 336 Gbps. FireFly is the first interconnect system that gives designers the flexibility of using micro footprint optical and copper interconnects interchangeably with the same connector system.
All the TigerFMC mezzanine cards can be easily integrated into existing systems such as VPX boards, or into brand new architectures. Compliant with VITA 57.1 and VITA 57.4 standards, they fit all FMC and FMC+ carrier boards.
