Samtec high-speed, edge card interconnect systems are available in a variety of pitches, stack heights, and orientations. They are used just about everywhere, including computers and peripherals, telecom, datacom, industrial equipment, medical, test and measurement, instrumentation, and military and aerospace, among others.
Speaking of variety, edge card socket strips are available on 0.50 mm, 0.635 mm, 0.80 mm, 1.00 mm, 1.27 mm, and 2.00 mm pitch. Orientations include vertical (surface mount), right angle, edge mount, and pass through.
Edge Rate® Contact System
Many product series incorporate the Edge Rate® contact system, which reduces broadside coupling and crosstalk. Most product series are rated at 28 Gbps or 40 Gbps. A new differential pair design is just now available; we’ll tell you more about that in a few weeks.
Back to variety, popular design options include signal/power combos, press-fit tails, rugged weld tabs, locks and latches, and PCI Express® interconnects.
Other options include designs to compensate for misalignment on the X-Y axis, a justification spring which allows for standard mating card PCB tolerances, PCIe Gen 3 and Gen 4 compliant, and a low profile SMT PCIe socket which is 8 mm tall with identical insertion depth and contact wipe.
Pin counts are available up to 200 total I/Os, and sockets mate with .062” and .093” thick cards.
