“High-speed applications” means different things to different people. In automotive infotainment, a high speed may be 5-10 Gbps. For sensing applications, high speed may be one sample a second. In the data center, hosted data rates are 112 Gbps PAM4 with 224 Gbps coming soon.
However “high speed” is defined, signal integrity becomes more essential for system optimization. At high frequencies, crosstalk becomes a challenge. High-speed differential pairs routed in close proximity affect each other on the near end and far end. Crosstalk mitigation is like necessary, but how do engineers measure crosstalk?
Measuring Interconnect Crosstalk: How?
Thankfully, there are specialists for every topic. Dr. Eric Bogatin is one such specialist for signal integrity. He has spent his entire career educating students, engineers and professional on tips and tricks for signal integrity optimization. Crosstalk in one of his specialties.
Join Dr. Bogatin in the upcoming webinar Four Tips for High Bandwidth Connector Crosstalk Characterization. Attendees will learn what the most important figures of merit are for crosstalk in connectors and how to perform reliable measurements for typical connector systems.
Featuring a mix of lecture and demonstration, Dr. Bogatin will discuss best practices for measuring crosstalk in high-speed board-to-board connectors. Single-ended and differential measurements in the time domain and frequency domain will also be covered
Additionally, hardware and test engineers, PCB designers, and SerDes specialists will learn about the principles of crosstalk in connectors. Dr. Bogatin will demonstrate s-parameter measurement and interpretation as well as the impact of crosstalk on receiver eye diagrams.
AcceleRate® HD Mezzanine Strips: A Case Study
AcceleRate® HD ultra-dense, multi-row mezzanine strips are rated for 56 Gbps PAM4 on a 0.635 mm pitch. The mate connector pair features high-speed Edge Rate® contacts designed for high-speed, high-cycle applications.
In the webinar, Dr. Bogatin will study crosstalk on the AcceleRate® HD SI Evaluation Kit. This kit provides system designers and SI engineers an easy-to-use solution for testing AcceleRate® HD connectors while delivering a high-quality system with robust mechanical design.
The webinar will be available on demand for those that can’t attend in person.
