The global outbreak of the novel coronavirus is affecting many aspects of life. COVID-19 has even affected the electronic components trade show industry.
In recent weeks, the Mobile World Congress, electronica Shanghai and other events have been canceled. Other events, like next week’s Embedded World 2020, are still on. However, many exhibitors are choosing not to attend trade shows out of caution.
For Embedded World 2020 specifically, the local Samtec team will be at the show in Nuremberg. In addition to several new products, Samtec will also have two high-performance active demonstrations.
PCI Express® Over Long Distance Fiber Optics
Samtec and Dolphin Interconnect Solutions have jointly developed a growing family of PCIe® Adaptor cards ideally suited for high-performance optical clustering.
Based on the latest PCI Express® bridging architectures and Samtec’s PCIe®-Over-Fiber FireFly™ optical cable solution, the combined solutions offer transparent and non-transparent bridging (NTB) over long distance PCIe®.
This active demonstration includes Samtec’s PCUO series PCIe® Optical Flyover Cable Assembly and PCOA series PCIe®-Over-Fiber Adaptor Card. The demo routes PCIe Gen 3 traffic over 100 m of fiber optic. PCIe Gen 4 versions are under development with planned release later in 2020.
56 Gbps PAM4 Active Product Demonstrator at Embedded World
The 56 Gbps PAM4 Active Product Demonstrator showcases Samtec’s comprehensive portfolio of high-performance interconnects in a typical data center chassis application.
It offers a complete system design based on Credo Semiconductor SERDES ICs that measure and display 56 Gbps PAM4 performance over 88 lanes. Key features of the demo include:
