The calendar recently flipped into August.
In many locations, August is usually the hottest month of the year. It’s also a reminder to enjoy last-minute summer plans before the temperatures cool, like swimming or a trip to the beach. Many parents are also planning activities with their children before they go off to school.
Our team of Samtec bloggers is no different. We haven’t missed a beat with our weekly updates for our dear readers. Yet, we like to enjoy the summer just like everyone else. So, what has the Samtec blog team been up to? Not surprisingly, the same as everyone else.
Enjoying the Outdoors
Who doesn’t like to get outside on a nice summer day?
Janine Love and her family are active hikers. They live in New England so there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature. On one hike, they went to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. With a name like that, I immediately think of snow. But what are the White Mountains like in summer?

Wow! What a view! That looks like a great place to hike.
Janine isn’t the only hiker at Samtec. Whitney Beckley and her husband also are outdoor enthusiasts. They recently took the Tour du Mont Blanc. This trail through the Swiss Alps goes through France, Switzerland, and Italy. The hike offers expansive alpine views, hanging glaciers, and waterfalls to soak in each day. They definitely enjoyed a “once in a lifetime experience!”

Concerts
Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and more are circling the globe.
Summer 2023 has launched a rebirth of large concert tours. Fans are literally lining up around the block days at a time to catch their favorite artist. According to one report, concertgoers will spend almost $1,300 on average per event. That includes tickets, travel, hotels, memorabilia, food and more.
Rumor has it that one of our bloggers is a “Swiftie.” Our anonymous blogger attended an Eras Tour concert earlier this year. The concert was described as a “once in a lifetime” experience. I will trust their description! I asked my daughter if she wanted to go see Taylor Swift. She prefers K-Pop. Whew!
Baseball
There’s a reason baseball is called “America’s pastime.”
Danny Boesing embodies a typical, everyday fan. His favorite team is Major League Baseballs’s Cincinnati Reds. Samtec’s New Albany, IN headquarters are about 75 miles down the Ohio River from the city of Cincinnati, so Danny makes the trek several times a year with family and friends.
We know Danny is a true fan. The days of Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan and other members of the Big Red Machine are long gone. Even the miracles of Barry Larkin and Eric Davis may be a faded memory, but Danny still keeps going. Why? Because he loves his team and the game. What a true fan!
Family Time
Another benefit of summer is the kids are out of school. Parents love to enjoy life through the eyes of their children. Mary Noble loves spending time with her young daughter. This past summer, they enjoyed several local mini-trips together.
Mary is based in our office in Harrisburg, PA. Anyone from Pennsylvania appreciates Turkey Hill ice cream in the summer. Mary and her daughter recently went to the Turkey Hill Experience. They learned about dairy farming, ate ice cream, and saw the “moo-moo’s” as her daughter calls cows.
Brianne Collier and her family also enjoyed close-by attractions. They went to Land Between the Lakes near Paducah, KY. They went boating and fishing, visited the local planetarium, and played lots of games. In Brianne’s words, they also had “the best ice cream and malt shakes at a local drive up.” Pennsylvanians may differ on ice cream choice, but that still sounds like a fun time!
Going to the Beach
Residents of coastal communities can enjoy the beach on a daily basis. For those of us in land-locked locations, going to the beach is always a special treat.
Blog admin Cody Wheeler and his family made the long drive from Kentuckiana to Hilton Head Island, SC. They combined a beach trip and a road trip all at once! Anyway, Cody and family played at the beach and went swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. They ate ice cream, like everybody! They also visited a number of playgrounds with their younger childen.

As the Wheelers were starting their long trek back home, Cody saw the Samtec logo on a building in Columbia, South Carolina. Apparently, he was surprised to see our Columbia Design Center on his drive back home. I guess Samtec is everywhere!
So there you go! The Samtec Blog team was able to enjoy some time away. We hope that you, dear Samtec Blog reader, were able to enjoy your summer as much as us!
