Hobbyists, tinkers and makers have revolutionized product design. Easy-to-use platforms like Raspberry Pi and Arduino give immediate access to powerful embedded computers.
For example, Mind Chasers is launching the Darsena Shield for Arduino. Combining Darsena with the Arduino ecosystem allows engineers to take full control of their network. They can also obtain unprecedented visibility with an open-source FPGA-based compute engine.
The Darsena Shield for Arduino
Darsena is an open source FPGA-based Arduino shield and base for IoT, control, and security applications including network monitoring, filtering, and machine learning.
Darsena is for network professionals, makers, and hobbyists. It redefines the meaning of packet inspection by enabling Arduino developers to view & control network activity within a modular, open FPGA architecture.
The system includes an open source stack for both the FPGA and ARM micro. The FPGA source provides modules for packet filtering, classification, switching, metrics, mirroring, and more. Please visit www.mindchasers.com for more information.
Samtec Connectors on Darsena
As with any Arduino platforms, there are any number of headers and sockets that can tie shields together. Darsena can use any of the following Samtec connctors:
- SSW-110-01-F-S: standard socket strip with solder tail
- SSW-110-04-F-S: socket strip with long solder tail
- SSQ-110-04-G-S: socket strip with long square tail / post
- ESQ-110-14-G-S: elevated socket strip with long square tail / post
- TSW-110-07-L-S: square post header
Standard Board-to-Board Connectors
Samtec gets lots of questions about the various types of headers and sockets available. The Mind Chasers team did a great job summarizing the key differences between all of these solutions.
Samtec’s portfolio of standard board-to-board connectors include many options. Many examples include board stacking interconnects for low profile, elevated, pass-through, and rugged applications on 2.54 mm and 2.00 mm pitch.
Connector options include vertical and right-angle orientations; through-hole, surface mount, mixed technology, press-fit and pass-through terminations. Click here for more details or e-mail our technical experts.
