This month we released a really slick integration of our Solutionator tools on several relevant pages on our website, continued to increase performance through image optimization, added a new line of RF products, and made several updates to our new checkout system.

Flex Stack and High-Speed Board-to-Board Solutionator Integrations
We have recently released an integration of our new popular High-Speed Board-to-Board and Flex Stacking Solutionators into several pages throughout the website. This integration embeds a large button to launch the tools right within the page the user is viewing, and allows them to configure a full mated-set solution within seconds where relevant.
You won’t find an experience like this anywhere else in the industry.

Image Performance Updates
Part of building modern website experiences is by making use of highly-detailed imagery, as Samtec.com does on many of its flagship product pages – High-Density Arrays, for example. While the upside of this is an improved experience, the downside can be reduced page load times, especially for larger images. The larger an image is on the page (200 KB vs 2 MB for example), the longer it takes for that page to load. Multiply that by the fact that some pages have dozens of images, and you can see how that can add up quickly.
Recently we rolled out a project to optimize a number of images across Samtec.com. Previous to this update, we had been manually optimizing images by running them through compression software as they were created. However, with this being just one step in the process to create a new page, it doesn’t always get done perfectly. So as we do in software, we automated it.

Addition of RF Adaptors Products
Chances are extremely high these days that you own at least one electronic device, which means you likely have an adaptor or two – or twenty. If you’re like me, then you probably have a box of adaptors “just in case.”
We’ve recently added Precision RF adaptors to the Samtec website, highlighting the series options that will be available soon. Whether you’re connecting two alike or unalike interfaces, here you’ll find in-series and between-series adaptors for your application. No need for a “just in case” box.

New Checkout Phase 2 Enhancements
We’ve been running our new checkout for the vast majority of users for several weeks now. This month we swapped it to be the default option and removed the link to the old checkout. We have one final step to remove a few links to the old checkout throughout various other avenues, but for almost all users, the new checkout is the only option.
We also made a few other UX improvements in the last month based on user feedback.
- Updated notes area to be more clear about notes vs. errors
- Updated address entry / view method to more clearly see how to add and view addresses
- Enhanced validations to more clearly see if a field is missing or incorrect
- General UX enhancements throughout the application to provide a cleaner and more pleasant experience
The new checkout, on average, is about five times faster than the previous checkout, and has incredible opportunities to extend its functionality in the future.
We’re looking forward to bringing you more of these features the rest of this year and beyond.
