In September, we put a bow on the login project until Phase 2 begins later this year, continued to focus on some back-end upgrades to Samtec.com, released a few UX updates, knocked out a few smaller projects that have been on the back burner, and added a few new pieces of content.
Here are the major updates to Samtec.com for September 2019.
Design Upgrade for Connectors, Cable, RF, and Optics Pages
The top level of Samtec.com past the homepage features our Connectors, Cables, Optics, and RF pages, which give users a jumpoff point into the four main categories of products that Samtec manufactures and sells.
These pages were given a much needed design update in September to feature all new product imagery, a side navigation to jump between each section and access our digital tools, better call-to-action buttons to further assist in navigation, and a stunning header image so the user knows they’re in the right place.

New Product Imagery in Main Navigation
To go along with the updates from the previous section, we also updated the images in each area of the main navigation.
The new images feature a more neutral background with a larger array of product imagery, as well as an upgraded design theme that is used across much of our current marketing materials.

New Webpage for HSEC8-DP SI Evaluation Kit
Samtec 0.80 mm pitch Edge Rate® Differential Pair High-Speed Edge Card Connectors offer 56 Gbps PAM4 performance in typical edge card applications. The HSEC8-DP SI Evaluation Kit provides system designers and SI engineers an easy-to-use solution for testing HSEC8-DP connectors.
We recently released a new page on the website detailing this new SI Evaluation kit.

Update APIs to New Versions and Increased Efficiency
Some of the back-end work that we have been working on has been upgrading our APIs (the method we use to pass and display a lot of our data on the website) to newer versions. We also made some data structure changes to go along with these updates to be more efficienct in some areas of the website.
The result has been a more snappy experience for end-users as well as a higher level of stability for all of Samtec.com.
You can feel the difference by visiting any of our Tech Specs pages, which calls nearly all of our data sources to create its content.
Additional eCAD models on Tech Specs Pages
We have been steadily adding more and more eCAD content in several areas of the website over the past few months. With this update, we have opened up access to eCAD content that was created outside of Samtec.com, by pulling in the source data from partner websites.
Check out an example of some of our eCAD content here, which is available on a growing number of full part number pages across Samtec.com.
Added Product Availability Information to Competitor Cross Reference Search
Our Cross Reference Search has been around a while. We have recently paired this tool with our updated product availability data to make it even easier to decide which parts to choose.
The new data shows up in green and indicates if a product is in stock and ready to be shipped, or if not, how quickly it can be built and shipped.
This has been added to our standalone tool, as well as the cross reference tool that is integrated within our on-site search.
Here is an example in our on-site search. Feel free to search any competitor part number you wish.
