This month, we released a major upgrade to our login experience across Samtec.com, as well as an overview of our 5G technology capabilities, and an easier way to get real-time availability for products across Samtec.com.
Here are the major updates to Samtec.com for July 2019.
Real-Time Product Availability on Product Pages and Solutionator
When you’re researching a product, one of the first things you want to know aside from “will it work?” is “when can I have it?”
Well, we’ve just made that a lot easier to understand in a couple of key places on Samtec.com.
You can now see up-to-the-minute product availability directly on the Technical Specifications pages for a large number of Samtec products. For most products, this information is available instantly when the page loads without having to run a manual lookup.

New 5G Technology Content Experience
“What’s the hottest tech on the market?”
From C-suites and market analysts to investors and system designers, that is a question that never becomes old. One technology having it’s moment is 5G.
Just in the last week, there has been major news on the topic. Apple announced its first 5G-capable iPhone coming next year. Apple is also buying Intel’s 5G modem business for $1B.
On the carrier side, T-Mobile and Sprint are merging to create a strong #3 carrier in the US. Verizon project that half of the US will have 5G coverage by mid-2020. Network equipment manufacturer Ericsson predicts that half the world will have 5G coverage by 2024.

Upgraded Login System
This is the first release of a few phases of a new login system for Samtec.com. This system replaces a system that was built in 2011 and has been running well ever since. But, technology changes over time, and it was time for an upgrade.
This new login system upgrades the technology we use for login management on Samtec.com, catching this system up to current web trends, replacing outdated technology, and increasing user security.
It also separates the login portion of the code into its own subdomain, creating a way to login to any samtec.com application at one central point (this is what Google does, Amazon, and many others).
This will be important as we continue to create smaller applications on the website that are independent of the larger code base.
The overall goal for Phase 1 is security for users, and to allow self-support for account-related issues on Samtec.com.
We’ll continue with a Phase 2 rollout in the fall of 2019, which will add more account management features and personalization options for users.
