Wasp (a.k.a. Janet van Dyne) is a less famous member of the Avengers but still a hero in her own right. With the ability to shrink in size, fly and fire blasts of energy (“wasp stings”), Wasp’s superpowers make her an agile team member. Her flexibility helps save America and allows her to take down Absorbing Man, Banshee, and Equinox.

While not quite Wasp superhero level, Samtec’s new right-angle mPOWER™ ultra micro power terminal provides even more design flexibility for power-only or power/signal applications. Plus, zero risk of being trapped in the Quantum Realm for 30 years, your head bit off by the Blob, or your best friend – She-Hulk – beating you into a coma. Connector flexibility is looking way better now.

DESIGN FLEXIBILITY

This micro 2.00 mm pitch right-angle terminal (UMPT-RA) can be used as a standalone high-power solution, or alongside one of Samtec’s high-speed connector systems for a unique two-piece power and signal/ground solution. Further design flexibility is available with a choice of 2 to 10 power blades and standard through-hole weld tabs for increased stability on the board.

Optional plastic or metal latching is available for mating with mPOWER™ cable assemblies. Matte Tin or 10 µ” Gold plating are standard, as well as 30 µ” Gold to meet specific regulations. Additionally, the power blades have 2 stage mating and can be selectively loaded to achieve any specific creepage and clearance requirements.

HIGH-POWER & 40% SPACE SAVINGS

mPOWER™ not only saves space with a small footprint, but it also carries extremely high amperage per square inch. These connectors pass 21 Amps per blade in about half the size of traditional 21 Amp power connectors. Ultimately this frees up the board for other components or minimizing package size.

ROADMAP

The mPOWER™ product line is still growing with more options and products in development.

The vertical connectors will soon be available with up to 10 power positions and stack heights up to 20 mm. This will allow mPOWER™ to be used alongside more of Samtec’s high-speed connector systems.
