Samtec open-pin-field arrays like SEARAY™ provide designers the ability to simultaneously run differential pairs, single-ended signals, and power through the same board-to-board interconnect. This design approach allows maximum pin-selection, routing, and grounding flexibility.
Additionally, Samtec open-pin-field solutions can be used to route differential or single-ended analog or RF signaling in addition to digital differential pairs, single-ended signals, and power in the same connector. For popular RF applications like 5G, Mil/Aero, RADAR, and instrumentation, Samtec Analog over Array technology achieves industry-leading differential crosstalk and return loss performance beyond 8 GHz
High-density RF applications typically require up to hundreds of individual RF connectors. Samtec Analog Over Array™ technology can replace dozens of precision RF connectors offering a smaller footprint, less weight, and cost optimization.
AMD XRF4 RF Accessory Kit
AMD recently released the XRF4 Accessory Kit to simplify development and rapid prototyping of RF front-ends in popular RF applications. The kit includes the XRF4 RF baseboard and the XRF4 RF modules. The XRF4 RF baseboard is the prime interface board to the ZCU670 and ZCU208 RFSoC DFE evaluation boards. The J1 and J2 Samtec LP Array™ High-Speed High-Density Low Profile Open-Pin-Field Arrays connect the XRF4 RF baseboard to the ZCU670 and ZCU208 via the RFMC 2.0 interface.
In addition, the XRF4 baseboard expands the DAC and ADC signals to nine connectors, also referred to as RF slice connectors. The RF slice connectors are also Samtec LP Array™ interconnects. The RF slices are a smaller version of the RFMC 2.0 connector that is used to interface the ZCU670/ZCU208 board and the XRF4 RF baseboard.
Both of these mated connector sets leverage Samtec’s Analog Over Array™ technology. The RFMC 2.0 interface acts as a break-out for RF-ADCs and RF-DACS from the ZCU670/ZCU208 board to XRF4 RF baseboard. Fully differential, 50-Ohm length-matched traces are routed via LP Array™ connectors to high-precision RF signal chain and connectors.
