Our new DCC Series — direct connect cable system – is a cost-effective high speed cable solution that supports and surpasses PCIe® Gen3 speeds at 2 meters cable length.
The DCC is rugged. High retention press fit pins attach directly to the PCB, eliminating the cost of the mating connector. Fortunately an extraction tool is available. The assembly also has an over-molded strain relief.
The connector saves space. First, it is low profile, only 3,00 mm tall. Second, it also saves space on the PCB compared to similar systems, including the MiniSAS system. The 8 pair system takes only .353” square (228 square mm) of PCB real estate.
The system allows tremendous design flexibility. Standard pinouts are 4 and 8 pair; it is available in a variety of end 2 options, including just about any custom configuration; and it comes in four cable lengths from 4” to 24” (102 mm to 609 mm).
The DCC Series incorporates 32 AWG Eye Speed® twinax cable for 100 ohm differential pair signal routing. The press fit pins are on 2,00 mm pitch. DCC can be used for coplanar, right angle, and parallel board-to-board applications.
The DCC Series is rated up to 15 GHz at 7dB insertion loss, with a 9” cable assembly. We are also developing a compression version which will offer higher cycle counts and higher speeds, targeting 20 GHz.
