Starting last month, we began rolling out an update across the site to upgrade about 500,000 parts with part-specific images. These are some of our most popular and best-selling parts.
In the image above you can see a few of the many new part-specific images showing up throughout the website. This specific block is the Recently Viewed section of our part page, which is only available to registered and logged-in users.
You can also see this in action in our Cart page, where you can buy Samtec parts directly through our website. Also included below is another example on our part pages in our recommended parts section.
How did we create 500,000 part images?
To accomplish this project, rather than individually photographing products, we worked with our 3D modeling team to do this using software. Using 3D model data, we rendered over 500,000 (yes, half a million) part-number-specific images to display them throughout various applications.
These will help more visual users understand what they are looking at vs. just seeing a part number and description, or representative image.
Next, you’ll start seeing these show up in the Search, as well as with our external partner websites where Samtec products are also sold.
