2019 was a fun year for Samtec.com. We’re in a great place right now where we get to maintain current content and features while we’re building a lot of new stuff as well. The website is becoming more mature, but still developing rapidly.
If you missed it, here is a look back at the top features we released in 2019. 2020 should be equally as fun for everyone.
We rounded out the year with a few significant website updates that have been active concepts for a while. Take a look at the December 2019 updates below.
High-Speed Cable Builder

In December of 2019, we released a major upgrade to our High-Speed Cable Builder. This version is built from the ground up, and adds several new products, simplifies the product filtering and selection process, and allows the user to easily configure end options once they have found what they need.
We’ll be releasing a detailed blog post about this application in the next couple of weeks. For now, you can check out the cable builder application here.
Discrete Wire Component Data

One of the concepts we have been working on for a while is how to best display the variety of data we have for discrete wire products and all of their components.
These products aren’t as simple as others so it’s not a 1:1 mating scenario. They’re made up of housings, contacts, assemblies, board and cable mates, and specialized tooling. This data had to be arranged in an intuitive manner and displayed on the page without being overwhelming to the user.
Our phase 1 update of this data is now live on Samtec.com on for all relevant discrete wire products.
You can see an example here.
Si-Fly Family Page

Si-Fly is one of our newest Samtec products, which uses direct-connect technology to elude the BGA and route signals directly from the silicon package through a long-reach cable.
This technology allows blazing fast speeds and much longer reach vs traditional methods.
We’ll have more on this exciting product in an upcoming blog post. For now, check out the family page here.
Severe Environment Page

Severe Environment Testing (SET) is a Samtec initiative to test certain products beyond typical industry standards and specifications, many of which are common requirements for harsh environment applications/industries.
Driven by demands for high functioning commercial standard interconnects, SET has proven beneficial in providing performance confidence, not only for rugged Mil/Aero industries and applications but also for Automotive, Industrial and Medical applications.
We built a new page explaining the SET concept, the testing procedures, and the products that qualify now, as well as those that are currently in testing.
We’ll have more on this soon in a future blog post. For now, you can check out the SET content page here on Samtec.com.
Personalized Notification System

In 2020, we’ll be working on a number of personalization features on Samtec.com. This is one of the ways we’ll support that.
We’ve added a small notification area to the header of the website for all logged-in users. This area will notify users of actions that need to be taken, new features, and other important messages that we feel are relevant.
For now, it just notifies users to set a security question in case of a failed password recovery, but in the future, we’ll be able to use it for many of the things listed above.
This is one of those small features that could grow into something very useful for users in the future.
Solutionator Homepage Block

Lastly for this month, but not least, is another feature we’ve had in our heads for quite some time.
Solutionator is our parametric search tool that allows users to select a few filters and then be presented with mated set options that fit those filters. It’s extremely useful for starting designs and takes the guesswork completely out of the equation.
We have added the six starting filters of Solutionator directly to the homepage of Samtec.com, allowing users to start with a simple filter set, click the “Parametric Search” button and continue the search using Solutionator from there.
Using this feature, users can arrive on the homepage and have a sample of a mated set solution shipping to their door in under a minute. Very cool.
Check it out by visiting the homepage of Samtec.com.
