Samtec Launches Nitrowave™ Cable, Analog Over Array™ Presentation, Bulls Eye® Advancements Demonstrated, and More!
IMS 2024 is fast approaching. Samtec has quite a bit of buzz brewing around its new orange Nitrowave™ high-performance microwave cable technology. Official product launch will be at the IMS exhibition in Washington DC. In true Samtec fashion, orange has been embraced with this new product line by use of a distinctive orange jacket. Just as Samtec is known as the service leader in the industry alongside trusted quality product—with Samtec being easily recognizable by our signature orange color—those qualities also apply to Nitrowave™ cable. It’s quality product you can trust, backed by Samtec Sudden Service®.
Samtec will be in booth #1531. We encourage you to stop by to see what all the Nitrowave™ buzz is about. There will be numerous live product demonstrations showcasing this new cable technology, and spoiler alert, you might see it in partner demonstrations as well. The following provides a bit more insight into product innovations you’ll be seeing this year.
What is Nitrowave™ Cable?
Nitrowave™ is a new, high-performance cable technology that is phase and amplitude stable with improved stability with flexure over time. Improved stability is possible, in part, due to the addition of the interlayer allowing for more accurate, dependable performance over the lifetime of the cable. We also took an innovative approach to cable construction: every previous assumption regarding what makes great cable was challenged, re-evaluated, then optimized. We invested in new technologies, new materials, allowing for better process controls and ultimately better overall performance and stability.
Bulls Eye® Test Assembly to 110 GHz: See the Demo
Another live demonstration features BE90A: the latest release in our popular Samtec Bulls Eye® high-performance test assembly product family. Bulls Eye® features a high-density space-saving design for use on smaller evaluation boards with shorter trace lengths. Available in single-row or double-row configurations, BE90A has an extremely small form factor. The enhanced design, in conjunction with launch optimization techniques, will be demonstrated in Samtec booth #1531.
Analog Over Array™: Listen to the MicroApps Seminar
Join Samtec engineer Kiana Montes for “Use An Array When A Standard PCB Connector Won’t Do,” on Thursday, June 20, from 11:15 – 11:30 am, at the MicroApps Theater in booth 2159. Kiana will be discussing Samtec’s Analog Over Array™ capabilities that allow an engineer to simultaneously run analog, digital and power signals through a single, cost-effective array connector in high-density RF applications.
Magnum RF® Ganged SMPM Solutions
Samtec’s popular ganged, multi-port Magnum RF® product features industry leading density. Novel configurations will be shown in support of millimeter wave applications. Magnum RF® is ideal for applications where space is limited and a high-operating frequency is required.
Compression Mount Connectors: See the Demo
- Narrow Body Edge Launch: DC to 67 GHz; 1.00 mm to 110 GHz Coming Q3
- Vertical Launch with Precision Alignment
Samtec’s new line of RF edge launch connectors feature a narrow body design that is 33% smaller than traditional edge launch connectors. Fully released interface types include 1.85 mm, 2.40 mm, and 2.92 mm. 1.00 mm versions to 110 GHz available Q3. Vertical launch connectors with alignment features (spanning DC to 90 GHz) are solderless, field-replaceable and therefore cost-effective. They include both threaded and push-on versions.
VITA™ 90 VNX+™ COTS Solutions
Samtec’s standard COTS solutions for VITA™ 90 VNX+™ will also be shown in the Samtec booth. Be sure to ask about the RF backplane system using size 20 contacts (110 GHz) or the combination RF and optical module. These work in conjunction with our high-speed digital array, SEARAY™ backplane solution.
Flexible Waveguide
As demonstrated at previous shows, Samtec will once again be displaying our flexible, micro waveguide technology. V-Band supporting 50 to 75 GHz is fully released (WF15 Series). E-Band, 60 to 90 GHz, is nearing release (WF12 Series). This unique cable design allows flexibility and reduced size while maintaining loss performance similar to that of a traditional waveguide.
Women In Microwaves Reception
Samtec is a proud sponsor of IMS 2024 Women In Microwaves. A reception will be held Tuesday, June 18, from 7:30 – 9:30 pm, at the International Spy Museum in Washington DC. This event welcomes all IMS attendees to promote collaboration, with a spotlight on the work of female engineers and researchers.
