The 21st century is a digital world. Sensors – from microphones to thermometers – convert real world analog signals in to the digital domain. The sensors and electronics community focuses on sensing, processing, connecting and analyzing necessary data to enable the digital experience.

Sensors Converge is the one in-person and virtual event covering the biggest design engineering trends in sensor applications. From sensors and chips to the cloud, Sensors Converge covers the technologies and applications driving innovation today.
This years event takes place September 21-23, 2021 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, CA The event will also stream globally with the theme Design Innovation Meets Tech Innovation.
Samtec and PICMG Feature MicroSAM®
A number of sensors in the marketplace provide digital outputs. However, there are still a number of analog-only sensors still available. The PICMG MicroSAM specification uses a postage-stamp form factor that does not depend on the microcontroller for the enablement of smart sensors.

MicroSAM enables sensors manufacturers to quickly create smart sensors without having to worry about its control domain. When combined with the PICMG sensor domain network architecture and data model, MicroSAM allows sensors to seamlessly integrate into the network with plug-and-play interoperability.
The new form-factor will be targeted at helping traditional sensor vendors quickly create smart sensors without having to worry about the control domain of the sensor. Smart Sensor Challenge
At Sensors Converge, Samtec, PICMG and other ecosystem partners will showcase the latest PICMG IIoT specifications in action during the Smart Sensor Challenge. Using MicroSAM and COM Express, watch traditional sensors become smart in a simulated factory environment.

At the Integrator Station, plug it into a MicroSAM to transform it into a smart sensor. At the Factory Installation Station, it is added to the distributed smart factory network, which will showcase all the integrated smart sensors controlled by the PICMG IIoT software suite.
At the Operations Visualization Station, you can witness the gathering analytics about how the factory is operating and whose sensors have been transformed into Smart Sensors and demonstrating how your sensor plugs and plays with the rest of the infrastructure.
