Since January, we’ve been quietly testing a new checkout process experience for a small subset of users.
This new process has been drastically simplified, taking what used to be a 5 step (and a bit painful) process, down to just a single streamlined one-page experience.
After a number of small tweaks based on user feedback, we’re excited to announce that we’ve just released this new process to (almost) all users.
If you’re an OEM user, CM user, or Guest user, you’ll now be presented with the new process by default. If you have a sample in your cart you’ll get the old process for now. We’re still working on getting these systems integrated with one another.
Here’s a Tour of the New Checkout Process
There are several helpful tools throughout this process to do things like:
- Default saved information based on your account
- Autofill certain areas based on global address databases
- Copy down address information if these are the same
- Apply shipping options to all lines with a single click
Our thought process behind this experience is to get you from top to bottom as quickly as possible, so you can focus on the rest of the things you need to in your day.
You’ll start out with a Buyer Information screen and then Shipping Options.

Next you’ll simply scroll down and enter your Billing information (no need to click to a new screen!). You’ll see a helpful “Same as my Shipping Address” tool which will autofill this option for you, or if your address is different, this information can be autofilled from our address population tool as well.
From there, you’ll have the same Credit Card and PO options in the payment fields.


Finally, you can finalize your shipping options and then click the “Confirm Order” button when you’re finished. Just make sure to wait until you see the confirmation screen before closing the window.
Next time you need to buy something from Samtec.com, this will be your experience. Give it a try by logging into your My Samtec account, adding some items, and clicking Proceed to Checkout.

Our next step is to roll this process out for samples across the website, which should completely eliminate the old process. We’ll also be working on a new login experience and several personalization options throughout the website. Stay tuned for those upgrades and more coming to My Samtec in 2018.
