This month, we released a major new version of our Checkout to a beta state, made some upgrades to how we show lead times online, made 3D model downloads easier from the Search, and released a few more content updates.
Here are the major website updates to Samtec.com for July 2022.
Upgraded Checkout Promoted to Beta Use in Production

If you’ve been paying attention to the Coming Soon section, you might have noticed we have been working on an upgraded Checkout system for the website for the last several months. We’re happy to announce that this application is now accepting orders in production in a Beta state.
It greatly simplifies the user flow and modernizes the process to be more consistent with eCommerce UX found across the Internet. This application replaces software that was originally built over 10 years ago. It’s a major upgrade in terms of not only experience but the architecture and code which drives it.
Over the next month as we iron out some bugs, this application will become the default option when checking out. The previous checkout will still be available as a backup, but will eventually be decommissioned.
To use the new checkout, just click the “Try our new Checkout” button in the Cart when you are ready to make your purchase.
Non-logged In Users Can Now Use the Lead Time Tool

As supply chain bottlenecks have continued this year, more and more customers are asking for lead times. While it’s easy to see this information on any product page and My Samtec users can always login to get this information with a few clicks, we’ve now made this available for non-logged-in (guest) users as well.
Any user can now to go our Pricing and Delivery tool (it’ll just be delivery for guests) and get lead time information for any valid part number.
Just head here and type in your part and click the orange button. We’ll show you the lead time for the quantity you put in, and if it’s available through distribution as well.

Easier 3D Model Download Experience in Search

Customers download thousands of 3D models from Samtec.com every day. We’ve grown this feature in several ways across many areas of the website. The latest improvements come in our on-site Search.
Previous to this update, users would need to navigate to another page on the website to download a 3D model. It wasn’t a bad experience at all, but we recognized it could be faster if that’s all someone needed. Now, when users click the “CAD Models” button in our Search tool, they’ll be presented with a simple modal tool that contains the combined mCAD / eCAD download tool.
From there, just a couple of clicks will get you the same models that are prominent on our product pages in a much faster manner.
Navigation Updates to New Solutionator Tools

We’ve added a few new ways to get to our growing new set of Solutionator Search tools. You’ll now see links to our Flex Stacking and High-Speed Board-to-Board Solutionator, along with our High-Speed Cable and RF Solutionators in various sections of the navigation throughout the website.
Also, look out for a few new integrations of these tools in a very cool way across relevant areas of Samtec.com, as well as a brand new Optics Solutionator coming very soon.
