In February, most of the team focused on a couple of larger projects we have going, but we were still able to take some time to continue to update the content and user experience on Samtec.com in a number of places.

Design Update to 1 mm Discrete Wire Page
The 1.00 mm Pitch Micro Mate Discrete Wire System is one of our most popular discrete wire products. This is a space-saving system that supports cable-to-board, cable-to-cable and cable-to-panel applications, making it extremely versatile.
We’ve updated this page on Samtec.com with a new video, new documentation, and new graphics so users can learn about it quickly and decide if it’s a fit for their needs.

Organization Updates to Development Kits Section
What started with just a few development kits has blossomed into dozens of solutions available on Samtec.com. Due to our robust new product releases, every new interconnect solution comes with its own evaluation platform.
Because of the growth in this area, we needed to update this section of the site to be easier to navigate for our users. We added a brand new main page, four subcategories, and several content pages underneath, organizing these kits into logical sections and giving users a simple way to find exactly what they need.

More Mobile Experience Updates
With mobile capabilities evolving more rapidly than ever, we’re keeping a consistent focus on our mobile experience with a goal that all customer-facing experiences work exceptionally well on mobile devices. We’re not there yet, but we will be in the near future.
This month we added more navigation capabilities to our mobile pages in the form of breadcrumbs in various places, and we also added some truncating to longer breadcrumbs that were causing the page to expand beyond the mobile viewport.
Next we’re looking at re-working some of our in-page links to be easier to access as well as adding more e-commerce features for mobile users.
We will continue to work consistently on this experience to bring the full experience of Samtec.com to your mobile device.
Limited Release for Managing Orders Online
Samtec serves all types of customers, from mom-and-pop shops to massive corporations, and everything in between. We also allow direct purchases through Samtec along with purchasing through distribution. Because of this, the capability to easily manage orders online is something our users have been requesting for a while now.
In February, we rolled out a limited release of this feature to a select group of users for production testing. Users can click an “edit” button next to any eligible order (basically something that isn’t in-process or shipped yet) and can request the ship date be updated.
It sounds like a small feature, but with thousands of businesses depending on this function every day to meet demands, it’s a win/win.
Next up here is adding a few layers of functionality based on initial feedback and extending this to additional users. Our ultimate goal is to significantly streamline changes like this for us and for users.
