In August 2020, we rolled out a variety of content updates to Samtec.com, spent some time fortifying our Electrial Models offerings, and continued to upgrade our mobile experience.
Here are the major updates to Samtec.com for August 2020.
New PICMG Standards Page

With over 25 years of experience in embedded computing, PICMG has published 50+ Standards written by members from hundreds of companies. PICMG applications range across a variety of markets, applications, and technologies as the boundaries blur for datacom, telecom, mil/aero, industrial, man-machine interface applications, and deeply embedded computing, but continue to be pushed.
Formally known as the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group, PICMG was originally founded in 1994. Its primary goal was to extend the PCI Standard to non-desktop applications.
Check out our new Standards page for PICMG, which will be developing into its own sub-section of the website soon.

We also updated several standards pages with new compliant products and content. Among these are VITA 42, VITA 74, and PCI/104 Express.

Request Electrical Models from SnapEDA

As remote work has grown this year, the demand for electrical models has grown along with it. In the past several months, our partnership with SnapEDA has helped support this need.
For several months we’ve been displaying SnapEDA Electrical Models for Samtec parts on Samtec.com. In August, we added the capability for users to request a model directly from SnapEDA if it is not available on the Samtec website.
The process is simple. If the model doesn’t exist, users will see a Request Now button, which will launch a form to easily request the model. SnapEDA fulfills these in about 24 hours, at which point it will be emailed to the user for download. From that point forward, the model will then be available for all Samtec.com users.
Updated Design for Mobile Navigation and Mobile Font

As mobile continues to evolve and grow, so does Samtec.com. We updated the fonts in our mobile view to be easier to read, and also built a new mobile navigation for our category and subcategory pages.
The result is a cleaner and easier-to-navigate experience.
You can check it out on any of our subcategory pages, for example:
