We spent most of April finishing up a couple of large applications that were built on legacy code. Those are now updated and live on the website. We also rolled out a couple of content page upgrades, and some back-end speed optimizations to various areas of the website.
New Material Declaration Application
We launched a new upgraded version of our Material Declaration application, which allows users to download a digital part composition analysis for any eligible part number. We upgraded the front-end design of the tool, performance, and the design of the PDF it generates.
This replaces a legacy tool with new architecture and code that we had been running since 2012. It can generate up to 50 material documents for download in under a minute.

New RoHS Application
Similar to the above tool, we also launched a new version of our ROHS application, which allows users to obtain a RoHS certificate of compliance for all eligible part numbers. This can be downloaded for China RoHS and European RoHS certificates.
This tool also replaces a legacy tool with new architecture and code that we had been running since 2012. It can generate up to 50 RoHS documents for download in under a minute.

New VITA 66.5 Standards Page
As an extension of VITA 65 OpenVPX, VITA 66 enables a compatible VPX interface containing blind-mate optical connectors with fixed contacts on the Plug-In Module and floating displacement on the backplane.
VITA 66 allows for improved and diversified I/O density via fiber transceivers and cables. While transceivers can be dense and perform at a high speed, they often consume valuable board real-estate, require additional hardware, and are difficult to integrate due to an ultra-fine pitch.
Samtec compliments the VITA 66 standard by offering our cabled FireFly™ Micro Flyover System™. FireFly™ supports SWaP-C and offers more density and performance (28+ Gb/s) than optical transceivers while consuming less board space.
We recently launched a content page to showcase how we support the VITA 66 Optical VPX Standard with our products and support teams.

Mobile Optimizations for Application Pages
The Applications section of our website is fairly new. It showcases how Samtec products are designed-in and applied across a wide variety of industries and technologies, including 5G, automotive, industrial, instrumentation, broadcast video, and more.
We recently optimized all of the pages in this section for mobile use, making them much easier to read and consume on mobile devices.
You can access each page by heading to the main Applications page here, and clicking the panels within – https://www.samtec.com/solutions/applications
Speed Optimizations for Static Pages
We’ve been working on a static website conversion as a lower priority as we are able to bit things off for quite a while now. Samtec.com is huge, and it contains hundreds of static pages that don’t require any code to run. We’ve been slowly moving these out of our main codebase and building CDN-driven versions of them that run extremely fast and require a very small amount of server resources to run effectively.
In April, we converted 20 additional pages throughout the website to run using this technology. Most of these live in our Support and Tools sections of the website.
You can see an example of a page running on this technology here. Notice the incredibly fast page load time you experience when accessing the link – https://www.samtec.com/about
