One of our major areas of focus on the website in 2018 has been upgrading the way parts are ordered and sampled on Samtec.com. We wrapped up a series of several software releases for our checkout process over the summer, and are now beginning to work on making samples even easier on Samtec.com.
We first released our Streamlined Sample process in our Solutionator tool in January of 2017. This allowed samples to be placed in one simple step, rather than going through five individual screens.
Since then, we have added this process to our Technical Specifications pages, our Search tool, and a few other places across Samtec.com. Recently, we’ve enabled this process for logged-in and guest users in My Samtec.
On the Free Sample screen, users will no longer have to add items to a cart and go through several additional steps that can take several minutes to complete. They can simply enter the part numbers they wish to sample, (click the Add More Parts link to add multiple), and then click Submit to send these through to our streamlined sample screen.
From here, the user just needs to complete the fields, click Confirm Order, and the sample will be submitted. It’s as easy as that, which can be done in under a minute. With this final update, all areas of our website will use this improved process.
It’s important to note that all quantities will default to 1, but can be adjusted on the final screen. Due to some recent feedback, we’ll also be adding a quantity field in the first step to eliminate any confusion about where to adjust this setting, as well as defaulting this screen to include multiple input boxes. You’ll see this in the weeks following this post.
