The web team at Samtec finished 2016 with several fairly significant updates.
One major application, Solutionator, was given a new streamlined sampling feature that we know you’ll find extremely useful.
We also rolled out the first version of the new way you’ll get your full part number documentation on the website. This will cater more to modern browsers and be more consistent with the rest of our web experience.
Finally, we wrapped up the first part of a major credit card checkout experience upgrade in My Samtec.
Here are the major updates to Samtec.com for December 2016.
Streamlined Sampling in Solutionator 2.0
Samtec is famous for its 24 hour sample program. For the vast majority of Samtec products, you can place a sample request one day, and have the product in your hand the very next day.
With so many of our samples originating from Samtec.com, we have been working on a new streamlined sampling experience that we just made available in our Solutionator tool this month.
You can access this feature for any product you get a result for in Solutionator.
Here’s an example of how to use it.
- Navigate to https://samtec.com/solutionator/tsw
- Click on any row you’d like to sample
- Click the “Get Free Samples” button
- Fill in the fields on the next page.
- Click Confirm, and you’re done!
That’s it. In this simple streamlined experience, you can have a sample on the way to your door in under a minute.
While this experience is only available on a small scale for now, the plan is to roll this out across the entire website within the next couple of months.
Anywhere you see a full part number on Samtec.com, you’ll be able to place a sample request in just a few seconds using this same process.
We’re also rolling out an update within the next couple of weeks which will remember your information if you’ve already filled in the form, making it even easier to use over and over again.
An Upgraded Full Part Technical Specifications Experience
In early 2016, we brought you a brand new cloud-driven “Technical Specifications” experience, which significantly increased your ability to perform product research on Samtec.com by bringing you several new features, and of course the back-end power of the Microsoft Azure hosting platform.
At the end of 2016, we stepped that up a notch with the initial rollout of our “part-number-level” version of this same page, which brings you the same powerful features, and more, including:
- An on-screen interactive 3D model of the EXACT part number you are viewing, right up top, plus the ability to download an “on-the-fly” generated 3D model instantly
- The ability to request a “Specs Kit” of all of the major pieces of technical documentation for the part number you are viewing, delivered directly to your inbox
- The ability to take the next step and order the part number through My Samtec
- The same streamlined sampling experience you just read about above, allowing you to place a sample request in under a minute
- Mating options with all available Stack Height data
- Open access to all of the technical documentation you’ve come to know and love from Samtec.com, without even entering an email address
For now, this experience is available on a direct URL level while we finalize a few details for a sitewide release.
But because you’re a loyal Samtec Blog reader, (right?!) you get special access. Go ahead and check it out by using this URL structure with any valid part number at the end of the URL – https://www.samtec.com/products/[part-number]

Global Credit Card Checkout Availability
Lastly, we’ve continued the project to bring you an upgraded credit card checkout experience.
We’ve lifted several restrictions that were previously in place, and have opened up this checkout option to essentially anyone using Samtec.com, regardless of currency, location, order cost, or whether or not you’re a registered user of My Samtec.
While this wraps up the first phase of the upgraded credit card checkout experience on the website, we’ve got several optimizations to bring to the remainder of the checkout process as well. Keep an eye out for those later this year.
