That thought has entered this blogger’s mind at least once. Virtual trade shows are the reality for many due to COVID-19, but some still see the benefits of in-person trade shows.
With that being said, the trade show industry, especially high-tech, has made great strides in a short time. The diversity of topics and quality of presentations parallels in person events.
Take the AI Hardware Summit Europe event as an example. It was originally scheduled for March, but moved back to July in a virtual format. What adjustments were made?

In one presentation, Geoff Tate, CEO of Flex Logix, discussed the features and benefits of AI inference in their embedded FPGAs (eFPGAs). Clustering the mathematical functions of FPGAs optimizes both performance with costs. eFPGA customers can program their chips with AI frameworks. In another presentation, Ingo Thon, Principal Key Expert of AI at Siemens, detailed the challenges of using ML in factory automation. PLCs are the foundation of all industrial automation architectures. ML capabilities need to be resident at the control level, yet accessible for both the IT department and the floor worker.
These and other presenters from the AI Hardware Summit Europe show that AI/ML are affecting so many facets of life: quality inspection, environmental sensing, preventative maintenance and so many more.
