In June of 2019, we rolled out a new web experience to help users better navigate our products, added real-time availability to our product pages, improved the user experience on our Pricing and Delivery page, and our Material Declaration and RoHS tools.
Here are the major updates to Samtec.com for June 2019.
Solution Blocks Page
Samtec has grown immensely since being founded in 1976 with just a few products of standard board-to-board connectors.
Now, with nearly 1,000 unique products and literally trillions of different variations, we offer way more than just one “block” of products.
Enter Samtec Solution Blocks, a simple way to break down the products we sell into logical high-level categories.
From standard cataloged products to unique high-performance designs, these six Solution Blocks are designed to support any interconnectivity need, regardless of application, performance requirements or environment.

Real-Time Product Availability on Product Pages
We’ve upgraded our product pages to include real-time availability information about any valid product, directly on the page, without doing a manual lookup.
At a glance, you’ll be able to see exactly how quickly you can get a specific product shipped to you. You can also see standard book pricing for various quantities.

This feature is currently available to logged out users, and is coming soon to all users. Spoiler alert – also look for logged-in pricing directly on these pages later this year.
Pricing and Delivery Design Update
This month, we also rolled out a design upgrade to our highly used Pricing and Delivery page.
This update widens the screen to a full-width view to give the user more room to work with, while also providing a more logical separation between the two functions of this page – pricing… and delivery.
Lastly, we’ve repositioned some of our alerts about things like packaging, etc. These will now show up towards the bottom of the page so they won’t interfere with the user experience.

Material Declaration and RoHS Tools Update
Two very widely used tools on Samtec.com are the Material Declaration and RoHS tools, both of which let users generate compliance related documents for the products they are using without the need to contact customer service.
These applications were previously behind a login. We’re happy to say we have lifted that requirement, which frustrated many users. These tools are now open to use freely without a login.
What’s the catch? They’re protected by Google’s reCAPTCHA v3 technology, a massively upgraded version of their previous spam protection system that used to hinder user experience very heavily.
Remember those horrible CAPTCHA boxes where you had to read blurry characters and type what it said? So awful…
Well, we’re not using those here. The upgraded version of this technology uses machine learning in the background and does not interrupt the UI, unless it detects malicious activity.
The result is a win/win – these tools to be used openly without a login while also getting protection from bots, scapers, etc.

Samtec.com Won Two Manufacturing Leadership Awards
The 15th annual Manufacturing Leadership Awards Gala, by the National Association of Manufacturers, took place on June 12, 2019.
The Manufacturing Leadership Awards honor manufacturing companies and individual manufacturing leaders that are shaping the future of global manufacturing. Judges look for leaders that have demonstrated achievement across a wide variety of domains including sustainability, operational excellence, innovation, supply chain management, and more.
Samtec was nominated in the Collaborative Innovation Leadership category among several other leading companies, including AGCO Corp., BAE Systems, HP, Inc., and The Dow Chemical Company, and took home top honors for this, as well as the overall High Achiever Award.
