One of the most useful features of e-commerce sites other than actually buying things without going to a store is the ability to see what customers also purchased alongside the item you are currently viewing.
This not only helps you find better-suited products to what you’re viewing but helps you find complementary products as well (such as mates in our case).
New to our Part Number Tech Specs page (PDP page) is a section that will show users the products that customers also purchased alongside the one they are viewing.
This data comes from a machine learning algorithm that we ran on the past 10 years of order history. The parts that you see in this area are highly likely to be direct mates or otherwise complementary products. The data is completely anonymous and optimized for user experience, meaning you won’t see what any one person purchased, and you’ll also see data that is highly likely to be associated with the part you are viewing.
For example, just because one person purchased a pair of shoes and a set of speakers together doesn’t mean everyone wants to see that recommendation. We made sure the products were likely to be associated.
This is a Phase One rollout of this feature. You’ll likely see updates to it in the future as well as seeing it in more places throughout the website. We should also note that you won’t see this on every product. Just those that we were able to gather relevant data.
