We’re excited to announce that we’ve just released our first version of the new Samtec.com profile system. This is the first step of a new system that will allow you to do everything that you do today with orders, quotes, samples, etc, and also adds on several new account management features, discussed below.
Address Management
The first additional feature that we’ve released is an address management system that will allow users to store and manage addresses online. You can add addresses individually from this screen, and we’ll also save any unique address that you use in our online checkout process for future use. This will add another layer of ease of use to our checkout process.
This is currently limited to shipping addresses, but we’ll be adding billing addresses very soon. We’ll also soon allow you to identify which addresses are your company, dropship addresses, billing addresses, etc.
Contact Information Management and User Preferences
You can also update basic contact information such as your name, email, phone, etc, and tell us more about yourself to make your browsing experience better across Samtec.com. You can set preferences such as your preferred mCAD and eCAD type, as well as preferred distributors that you’d like to prioritize across the website.
We’ll also allow you to set your preferred shipping preferences so these values will be auto-populated for your when you go to the checkout.
We’ll be adding ways in the future version to set these preferences more easily across the website on top of the profile system.
Security Preferences and Email Preferences
This new dashboard also allows a simpler way for you to access your security information, such as your online password and your security questions, as well as the type of email that you’d like to get from us.
Upcoming Features
This is the first version of this new system, and it shows a lot of promise for upgraded user experiences across the website, especially with making the checkout process easier. Here are a few upcoming features we’re considering for future releases.
