Samtec Keyword Search Gets a Major Improvement, Powered by Octopart

Recently we rolled out an upgrade to our keyword search on the website that brings several major improvements to the way users can search for products on Samtec.com.

Prior to this upgrade, most keyword searches resulted in directing users to a list of matching series. With this upgrade, we’ve partnered with Octopart to deliver the ability to match to specific part numbers, and integrate their intelligent parametric filtering within the search as well.

Starting with a keyword search of something like “high-speed connectors” for example, users will be presented with a list of matching part numbers, as well as category and specs filters.

These will allow users to sort through different product categories, such as connectors, edge cards, board to board, cables, etc. The specs will allow users to apply different parametric filters based on the search results, such as number of rows, pitch, number of positions, plating, etc. Users can also filter by products that are currently in stock and ready to ship immediately.

From there, users will see the part numbers that match their inputs, as well as a few quick characteristics about each one, including the description, stock status, Reserve status, and more. In the future, we’ll also be adding a few more elements to the results block for even better comparisons. Clicking any of the orange links will open that specific part page for additional information.

We’ve also included a few quick links off to the side for users to easily Add to Cart, place a Sample Request, and access CAD Models.

Coming Soon to the Search

Next up, we’ll be adding a few additional features to the search, such as a pricing grid, checkboxes instead of dropdowns, additional data, and easier access to distributor stock of the searched parts.
