In the previous post, we gave you a tour of our new Product Group page layout on Samtec.com. In this post, we’ll take you through the final layer of our new product hierarchy rebuild, the family pages.
What’s different about this level is we actually didn’t change a whole lot on the front side of things. The majority of the work was on the back end, making these pages extremely fast and easy to maintain.
Let’s take a look under the hood at the (kind of) new family pages on Samtec.com.

We shrank the top portion of the page to pull up the relevant content to the top a bit more. This gets the user into the content more quickly. Our flagship products, such as SEARAY have a beautiful hero image at the top for the user to get an idea of what they are looking at.
Each page has a short overview section towards the top, then moves into supporting information such as technical information, features, and more.

Users can navigate through these tabs to learn more about the product before getting into deeper down technical data in the next section. This is where we’ll also show downloads such as product literature and any supporting technical documents related to the products.

We’ll then show any relevant videos, and then showcase the series for the family the user is viewing. Each series has a few helpful call-to-action buttons to direct the user to the next step in the process, downloading models, configuring the product, free samples, and technical data.
The series section shows product features to help direct users to the correct series in the family.

For product support, we also have a helpful form on each family page which allows user to get in touch with our support groups for product questions very easily.
Lastly, we’ll link users to other products within the same Product Group, just in case they’re not in the exact right place.

All of This, With Lightning Fast Speed
While this page may look very similar to the previous version, the magic is under the hood. Each section is built on a brand new content management system which uses a static page generator and this CDN storage to render the page. It’s also built with a brand new CSS framework which is far lighter than the previous version.
This means all of the content comes directly from server memory, without touching a database, making the user experience extremely fast on these pages, as fast as we’ve ever built. These pages are over 3x faster than their predecessors. Now that’s sudden service!
