In August, the Samtec Web team rolled out an exciting new way to build Discrete Wire cable assemblies, over 500,000 part-number specific images, new default part numbers for our configurators, several updates to our tech library, and more.
Here are the major updates to Samtec.com for August 2023.
New Discrete Wire Cable Builder Tool
We’re in the process of doing a full rollout of our brand-new Discrete Wire Cable Builder tool, which will help users choose the correct parameters for the discrete wire cable they need to build, and then offer up the proper configurator to complete the process.
Users will start by selecting either Pitch, Wire Gauge, CCC, or Operating Temp, or a combination of these. From there, users will choose their product based on these filters and needs, and then configure it in the next step.
Once the product is built, users can download a 3D model, Add to Cart, Request a Free Sample, Quote, or get additional technical information. We’ll have a larger write-up on this tool in the coming weeks as it fully releases.

New Part Number Specific Images
In the image above you can see a few of the many new part-specific images showing up throughout the website. This specific block is the Recently Viewed section of our part page, which is only available to registered and logged-in users.
To accomplish this project rather than individually photograph products, we worked with our 3D modeling team to do this using software. Using 3D model data, we rendered over 500,000 (yes, half a million) part-number-specific images to display them throughout various applications. We’ve already started working them into the page-level pages and will be working them into the search and other areas very soon.
These will help more visual users understand what they are looking at vs. just seeing a part number and description, or representative image.
New Default Part Numbers for Configurators
We have updated nearly every series that supports a configurator on the website with a new default part number. These aim to be the most popular part numbers for these products, so users can start with a part number that has a higher likelihood of being exactly what they need already, or make smaller changes from what is displayed by default.
This should help speed up the design process even further for users who are building products using our award-winning configurator tool.

Several Updates to the Technical Library
We have been making several updates to our Technical Library to add new White Papers, Webinars, Presentations, Data Sheets, and more. Many of these documents are best-of-show award winners at shows such as DesignCon, and more.
