In April, we continued improvements to our new similar parts functionality as well as our search upgrades, and released several new content product pages on the website. We’ll also piggyback some of the cart upgrades we’ve rolled out in the last few months onto this post.
Continued Improvements to Similar Parts Recommendations
We first wrote about the updates we were making to find similar parts a few weeks back. This started with a project to find alternative packaging types to the product a user was viewing.
From there, we continued to upgrade this functionality to expand from only showing parts with similar packaging to also show parts with similar plating, cable lengths, physical dimensions, and more.

Search Upgrades
We’ve continued to make updates to our search as well this month. We updated the previous dropdown boxes to be checkboxes for easier usability, and also added a few tweaks to improve the performance. Next, we’ll be working on adding logged-in and book pricing here as well.

Precision RF Product Content Page
Recently we created a new content page for our precision RF cable assemblies and connectors.

New Military / Aerospace Content Page
Recently, we created a new content page highlighting our products that are often used in military and aerospace applications.

Cart Upgrades
In the past few months, we’ve made some cool updates to the cart on the website. While these were not in April, it made sense to mention all of them together.
- Distributors and Contract Manufacturers can now place orders on Samtec.com
- Users can add up to 100 lines to their shopping cart
- Users can copy / paste items in bulk by using the Add to Cart tool at the top of the website
Next up for the cart is a multiple wish list feature that we’ve been working on, and a potential tool to allow users to easily share their carts with co-workers. Stay tuned for those later this year.
