We’ve spent a good chunk of the last year building a new on-site search experience for Samtec.com. This update continues that trend with our newly released competitor cross reference search addition.
Using this feature, you can access competitor cross reference data for over 11 million products directly from our existing on-site search.
How to Use the Samtec Competitor Cross Reference Search
To access this new search, navigate to Samtec.com and enter any valid competitor part number into the search box at the top right of the website. You’ll immediately receive a list of matching Samtec products.
If we have an exact match, the “Cross References” tab will display as the default tab, with up to 20 matching results with different levels of variation.
If we have only a partial match to your part number, a suggestion will be displayed in the ALL tab to allow you the option to see additional results.
Now, because our cross reference relationship is many-to-one in our database, this means that multiple Samtec parts will often cross to one competitor part number. The reason is because of our product differentiation. We can offer so many different options for a given product line, that this often results in a variety of different part numbers that are very similar in nature.
The variations will come up in areas such as contact plating, plating thickness, housing materials, etc. In the cross reference results, any variances between the Samtec part and the competitor part will be listed under the “Variances” heading in the result. This way you can easily tell the difference between the products you are viewing within the results.
As I write this post, we’ll currently show up to 20 cross reference matches for each competitor part number. If we do not have a match in our database, no cross reference results will be displayed. In this case, you can use our Support Options to reach our customer service team. They’ll be happy to assist you.
