As you probably know, discrete wire component data is quite a bit different than just standard socket and terminal mating relationships.
When we look at how Samtec approaches discrete wire products, there are several components involved. We not only sell the assemblies, but we also sell the housings, contacts, sockets, terminals, hand tools, and applicators that go into working with these types of products.
I won’t lie. When this project first came up, we figured it wouldn’t be that bad, but once we got into it, we found this data to be tough to organize just because of the wide variability in how all of the products relate to one another.
Like I said, just not a simple socket/terminal relationship.
But all of that aside, we got past the initial hump and released our phase 1 approach to this data. It is now available on Samtec.com on all discrete wire Technical Specifications pages.
Here are a few more details about this update.

New “Mates” Table Structure for Discrete Wire Products
For all relevant products, users will now see a structured grid in the “mates” area of the page instead of the typical dropdown menu. Inside this grid, you’ll be able to see all of the related products to the product you are currently viewing categorized under several headings.

This table includes assemblies, mates, housings, contacts, terminals, and tooling. It even extends those same relationships to the mates of that product – a feature we felt like we couldn’t leave out given the nature of these products.
Inside the table, you’ll also see clickable links to each related product. This allows users to pull up the documentation for each component and easily view them separately as needed.
These updates make it far easier to navigate, research, sample, and buy the correct discrete wire products for your application.
We’ll likely be making some phase 2 organization updates to this data in the near future to make it even easier to read and access. Stay tuned on that.
