Samtec receives daily requests from designers looking for customized solutions for application-specific interconnect needs. Samtec has turned the quick-turn prototype model from our Sudden Service® Advantage into a standard design methodology.
Numerous customers were interested in cost-effective, low-profile, high-performance custom cable assembly solutions. The challenge was to get the signal from the cable to any layer on the PCB as quickly as possible.
A solution quickly presented itself: direct connection of the cable to a press-fit terminal. The Direct Connect™ Cable System was born.
Easy Assembly in High-Density Applications

Samtec DCH series features a high-retention, press-fit termination offering a direct connection to the PCB. The connectorless design eliminates the need for traditional board-level connectors and transition cards. This new approach simplifies BOMs and reduces system costs.
As product form factors get smaller, system designers constant look for denser interconnect. DCH’s 2.00mm pitch assembly and 3 mm profile are ideally suited for tight quarters. The combination of varying cable lengths and multiple END 2 options provide design flexibility for new and existing board designs.
Supports High-Speed Data Rates

The DCH series combines Samtec 30AWG ultra-low skew EyeSpeed® twinax cable with stitched ground pins to offer improved signal integrity and optimized routing.
Easy isolation of differential pairs occurs in either four-pair or eight-pair options. Next-generation data rates of 28 Gbps NRZ/ 56 Gbps PAM4 and beyond are supported. High-speed protocol support includes:
- IEEE CAUI-4
- OIF VSR
- PCIe® Gen3/Gen4
Due to its simplicity, small size and high-speed performance, DCH offers a popular “End 2” option on several HDR Cable Assemblies Available from Samtec. For example, the Flyover QSFP28 Cable Systems features DCH as one of many “End 2” options.
