We continued this month with additional updates to our on-site search tool on Samtec.com to make it even easier to find the products you need as quickly as possible.
Here are a couple of tweaks we’ve made this month and a few things to look out for in the coming months.
Easier Matching for Products with Decimal Places
One of the things we’ve taken note of over the past several months as we’ve continued to tweak our search matching rules is an increase in the number of searches containing decimal characters. These are products such as our .100″ pitch square post systems, our .050″ micro pitch board-to-board systems, and several of our discrete wire and IDC systems.
In May, we released an update to our search algorithm to better support these types of searches. Now when searches are performed which contain decimal characters, you should get far more accurate results.

Speed Increase to Instant Search Dropdown
Additionally, you’ll notice the instant search dropdown is a bit more speedy this month as well. We removed some data that wasn’t being used very much in user queries so the tool has far less data to sift through when creating matches.
As a result, the instant search tool is much quicker, and is now focused far more on Series and Part Number results, which are the vast majority of our searches. You’ll still see some keyword and keymatch results in this area, but we’ll mainly leave that to the “All” tab of the search results page.
