Anritsu Company (OFC booth #1309) and Samtec (OFC booth #1849) are conducting optical transmission technology demonstrations in the Samtec booth during OFC 2015, in Los Angeles, March 24-26. The demonstrations use high quality signals generated from the Anritsu MP1800A BERT Signal Quality Analyzer to highlight the link performance (up to 28 Gbps) of Samtec’s new 12 channel, 28 Gbps FireFly™ Micro Flyover System™.
The superior signal integrity up to 32 Gbps of the MP1800A BERT enables Samtec to measure and optimize the FireFly 28 Gbps x4 and x12 product performance quickly, easily and accurately. The instrument’s integrated Pulse Pattern Generator (PPG) supports output of high-quality, low intrinsic jitter signals. The MP1800A also provides a built-in High Sensitivity Error Detector (ED) with best-in-class input sensitivity and fast Auto Adjust function.
Samtec’s FireFly product family includes x4 bidirectional, and x12 unidirectional and bidirectional variants to cover data rates from 1 to 28 Gbps. FireFly features the smallest form factor in the industry, taking up 1.82 square centimeters of PCB space and only 7.40 mm tall with the cold plate heat sink. It connects to the board through a high-speed, state-of-the-art 0.50 mm pitch edge card connector along with a 0.80 mm compression connector/latching mechanism, which makes installation fast, easy and secure. FireFly modules can be placed next to the processor for greater signal integrity and can send signals outside the box up to 100 meters.
