They say that proof is in the pudding, and Samtec invites you to come and see our pudding. Samtec is always looking for ways to provide a higher level of service to our customers, and having all of our demos in one spot is just another example.
What Will You See?
If you have been following this blog for any amount of time, then chances are likely you have seen some of the amazing demos Samtec has released. Some of our most recent demos have found a home at Samtec SVDC right in Silicon Valley. When you and your team stop by, here are the demos you will see.
112Gbps Samtec FlyoverTM Demo

The Credo CDR generates two ports of 31-bit PRBS data at 112 Gbps PAM4 data rates. The signal travels from the Credo Pelican II SERDES test board through precision RF cable assemblies, to a Samtec Flyover™ QSFP-DD SI Evaluation Kit.
This cable assembly, approximately 12” (30.5 cm) long, uses Samtec 34 AWG Eye Speed® Ultra-Low Skew Twinax cable.
End 2 of the cable assembly is a 0.635 mm AcceleRate® Slim Body Cable Assembly, back through precision RF cable assemblies, to another Credo CDR running at 112 Gbps PAM 4 data rates. Find out more about this demo in the blog here.
Submersible Optical Transceiver

The live demo features a fully submersed Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+ VCU118 Evaluation Kit with a new optical FireFly transceiver which supports links up to 100m at lane speeds of 28 Gbps per channel.
Make sure to check out the blog on this demo here.
PCIe Over Optical FireFly

In this demo, a server, or “Host” system, plays a 4K video. Plugged into one of the PCI Express expansion slots is a Samtec PCI Express compliant add-on card that contains two FireFly PCUO optical modules, which implements a x8 PCI Express Gen 3 (8 Gbps) link.
The add-on card is the PCOA series. It is also possible to use four PCUO modules to implement a x16 PCI Express link. By the way, there is no video card in the host system.
For more information, please see the blog on this demo here.
Characterization Kits

Samtec SI Evaluation Kits provide system designers and SI engineers an easy-to-use solution for testing various Samtec high-performance interconnect solutions.
The portfolio of solutions includes various mezzanine, backplane and cable assembly applications.
The kits enable correlation between simulated and measured test parameters. Time domain measurements are enabled vis direct connections to TDRs and TDTs. Frequency domain measurements are enabled vis direct connections to VNAs.
Make sure to check out Samtec’s full line of characterization kits here.
Thermal and Cable Management

Samtec FlyoverTM Technology
Samtec offers our cable management expertise to all of our customers as a complimentary service. By using Samtec FlyoverTM cables the internal temperatures are easier to manage, and cables become easier to manage.
Samtec has several demonstrations setup to display the benefits of Samtec
FlyoverTM, and two of those demos can be viewed here.
12.8 Tb OCP Wedge Switch

The system has a 12.8 Tb Marvell ASIC with 32x QSFP-DD ports on the front panel, sending signals at 56 Gbps PAM4 per channel, through Samtec Flyover cable assemblies.
These assemblies, each with 18” of Samtec Ultra Low Skew twinax cable, terminate to Samtec FQSFP-DD connectors on the front panel and to either Samtec NovaRay™ or AcceleRate® connector systems on the ASIC end. The FQSFP-DD connectors accepts a standard, MSA-based QSFP-DD module.
Check out the blog on this topic for more information here.
High Speed Cable Products
All of these demos are made possible by Samtec’s Ultra Low Skew Twinax Cable. Several physical samples of the High Speed products are available to be viewed. Among these examples are the NovaRay™, ExaMax Cable, FQSFP-DD, and AcceleRate.
Seeing is Believing
If you and your team would like to come by the Samtec Silicon Valley Design Center to see the demos in person then please contact your local sales rep, or send an email to ssv@samtec.com.
If you can’t make it into Samtec Silicion Valley, then make sure to check out the virtual tour by Samtec’s Jignesh Shah here.
