THE SAMTEC BLOG
Fiber-optics continue to expand through various platforms, therefore, tech industries will continue innovating, promoting, and expanding. As this trend continues to grow, engineers, researchers, manufacturers, and industry leaders are keeping a pulse on how to implement these technologies in the real world.
Acting as an open forum and conference for fiber-optics, the 2016 Avionics and Vehicle Fiber-Optics and Photonics Conference will focus on new technologies and deployment in harsh environments.
Marc Verdiell, CTO of Samtec Optical Group and a senior member of the IEEE, will be presenting his paper Extended Temperature Performance of VCSEL Based Optical Transmitter at the Hilton Long Beach in Long Beach, CA on Thursday, November 3, 2016.
Additional specifics on avionic and vetronic technology include:

About Marc Verdiell:
Dr. Jean-Marc Verdiell holds a Ph.D. in Optoelectronics from the University of Paris. He has spent his career in fiber optical communications, starting in R&D in Integrated Photonics at AT&T Bell Labs, then SDL (now JDSU), then in engineering and business through several of his own startups. Lightlogic, which he founded in 1998, became a leading provider of integrated 10 Gb Ethernet optical transponders and was acquired by Intel in 2001. AlpenIO, which he founded in 2006, developed the next generation computer optical interconnect technology and was acquired by Samtec in 2011. Dr. Verdiell was named Intel Fellow in 2001. He holds 34 patents and has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed papers.
